ASMR: 30 Days of Tingles – DAY 20 Testing the Soundman Microphone

August 1, 2015 By ASMR HQ Leave a Comment

For Day 20 of the 30 Days of ASMR Tingles we decided to test the Soundman OKMII Binaural Microphone. It’s been a while since we used this mic so I had to try to remember how to set it all up again. I also realise now why we started using the 3Dio more often. The […]

Where Can You Buy the 3Dio Free Space Pro Binaural Microphone?

October 19, 2014 By ASMR HQ Leave a Comment

We’ve been using our 3Dio Free Space Pro microphone for close to a year as I write this, and we love it. It is perfect for creating ASMR videos as it not only allows you to record binaural sound but also has an option to add a camera. It’s our favourite microphone for ASMR and […]

ASMR Binaural Sound Series #41: Cleaning the 3Dio Microphone

September 11, 2014 By ASMR HQ Leave a Comment

Our 3Dio Free Space Pro microphone was starting to look a little grubby so we decided it needed a good clean. Since I was doing it anyway, I thought I might as well record it for an ASMR video, so this is the result. It cleaned up quite nicely and looks like new again.

ASMR Microphone Test #1: Rode NT1A Microphones – Softly Spoken, Tapping, Scraping

June 28, 2014 By ASMR HQ Leave a Comment

We’ve been wanting to test our Rode NT1a microphones for a while now. We have used them in podcasts but not in a full length ASMR video so I gave them a good run with a few different sounds in this one. I don’t think I got the placement right as although you could hear […]

ASMR Microphone Test #2: Rode NT1A Microphone – Mostly Sounds (with just a bit of talking at the start and finish)

June 28, 2014 By ASMR HQ Leave a Comment

This is the second test I did for the Rode NT1a microphone. I angled the microphones a little more and spaced them a little further apart. I think it makes the left and right ear a little more defined. I am going to keep working on it to improve the sound as these are really […]

What is ASMR?

ASMR is one of those things that is often difficult to explain because it is more of a feeling than anything else. ASMR stands for Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response and at its most simplest can be defined as a tingly sensation that is most often felt at the back of the head although it can also be felt down the back, arms and even the legs. That tingly feeling comes about due to certain audio or visual triggers like a tapping sound or the soft patter of the rain, the sound of someone whispering or watching someone performing a mundane repetitive task. It's a very soothing feeling and very relaxing.
